This is your ticket to messy, gooey, colorful fun in your kitchen, using Trinity Grace Church’s tried-and-true method! Kids are welcome to help you out… but be careful: the dough will get very HOT.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour, whisked or sifted

  • 1 1/2 cups salt

  • 2 tbsp cream of tartar

  • 3 1/4 cup of water

  • 3 tbsp of oil

  • food coloring

  • glitter (optional)

  • essential oils (optional)

Steps

  1. Whisk all the dry ingredients together in a large pot, heat-friendly bowl, or non-stick frying pan until no lumps remain.

  2. Whisk in the wet ingredients and stir until no lumps remain.

  3. Cook on high for 3-4 minutes until the dough forms. Use a large spatula to work the HOT dough.

  4. Knead until smooth and uniform in color.

  5. You can wait to add the food coloring (or glitter) after kneading if you want to make more than one color out of the same batch.

  6. After the dough cools for a bit, you can also knead in several drops of essential oils. It makes the dough smell delightful.

  7. Store in airtight container in a cool, dark place.

  8. Enjoy playing until it dries out. It can last several weeks or a couple months depending on how often your child uses it.
